I am working on Capital Hill these days and found myself in the Rayburn House Office Building. I decided to pay Bart Stupak's office a visit to see if they would be interested in learning about the Toyota oil sludge problem. Unfortunately the staffer responsible for the committee dealing with Toyota will not be in this week. The staff members in the office looked at me in disbelief as I described the Toyota sludge problem and encouraged me to return next week. I was given the phone number and e-mail address of the staffer I need to contact.
I asked Charlene Blake, the author of the Toyota Oil Sludge Petition if I can present the 3,100+ signatures of the petition to Bart Stupak next week. She gladly said yes! I do have some work to do as we need to reformat the petition in print format so the Congressman can easily thumb through the stories and read how Toyota Oil Sludge is affecting people.
I am looking for someone who lives in Michigan's First Congressional District and willing to write a letter I can hand to the Congressman. Finding a constituent who has been affected by the Toyota oil sludge issue will be a huge plus.
So why target Bart Stupak? He is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, the committee responsible for the recent Toyota hearings.
This is definitely a round-about way to get a car fixed! But whatever it takes.
